Eight additional districts will be restricted to foreign resident permits, according to the announcements. Previously, two districts were blocked for residency permits: Esenyurt and Fatih. Furthermore, 8 new districts have been added to the list as a result of the new legislation and announcements.
Minister Suleyman Soylu gave press comments following the Istanbul Migration Evaluation Meeting at the Directorate General of Migration Management. The recent notifications disclose that 8 additional locations are now restricted to foreign resident permits. The following is a list of these districts:
- Basaksehir
- Bagcilar
- Kucukcekmece
- Avcilar
- Bahcelievler
- Sultangazi
- Esenler
- Zeytinburnu
As a result of these additions, the number of Istanbul districts restricted to foreign resident permits has increased to ten. The Minister did, however, indicate that there may be some exclusions in particular cases, such as;
- Being a student and having a university in that district
- Being an investor in that district
- Health problems can also be an exception.
Furthermore, due to an excess of foreigners in specific districts, some localities in Turkey are closed to foreign Residency permits. As a result, Istanbul has a plethora of such places. Here are the specific names of the neighborhoods in Istanbul that are closed to foreign resident permits;
