Industrial production index is an indicator that provides the status of the sector and the comparative monitoring of the increase or decrease in production activities over the years. The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) monthly announces this index. It covers the mining and quarrying, manufacturing, and electricity, gas, steam, air conditioning production and distribution activities.
Industrial production increased by 5.4% on a monthly basis
When we check the previous month’s data of sub-sectors of the industry, in August 2021;
- the mining and quarrying sector index decreased by 1.7%,
- the manufacturing industry sector index increased by 6.3%,
- and the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning production and distribution sector index decreased by 0.2%.
The index increased by 13.8% on a yearly basis
Sub-sectors of the industry (2015=100 reference years) are compared to the same month of 2020. So, we can clearly see that in August 2021;
- the mining and quarrying sector index increased by 9.4%,
- the manufacturing industry index increased by 14.2%,
- and the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning production and distribution sector index increased by 9.4%.
