    EXPORT FROM TURKEY TO LIBYA REACHED 2.5 BILLION USD IN 2021

    Export from Turkey to Libya increased by 64.9% in 2021 compared to the previous year and reached the figure of 2 billion 443 million dollars. This figure has been the second-highest export figure to Libya.

    According to the research conducted by the DEIK Turkey-Libya Business Council from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) figures, Libya had a share of 1.06% of Turkey’s total exports because of this figure.

    Exports in December, on the other hand, reached 238.9 million dollars with an increase of 75% compared to the same period of 2020.

    EXPORT FROM TURKEY TO LIBYA: CHEMICALS, FURNITURE AND OTHER PRODUCTS

    Chemical products were the most exported products with $332 million to Libya in 2021. The sector exports increased by 31.9% on an annual basis.

    Following chemical products, the figures for export from Turkey to Libya in 2021 were as follows;

    • Furniture, paper and forestry products with $298.1 million,
    • Jewelry with $281.8 million,
    • Grains, pulses, oilseeds and products with $251 million,
    • Ready-to-wear and apparel with $246.5 million.
    • Electricity and electronics with 170.8 million dollars,
    • Steel with 146.3 million dollars,
    • Ferrous and non-ferrous metals with 127.5 million dollars,
    • Carpets with 96.9 million dollars,
    • Machinery and parts with 86.6 million dollars,
    • Cement with 55.6 million dollars,
    • The automotive industry with $54.3 million.

    “WE SHOULD REFLECT OUR HISTORICAL FRIENDSHIP TO THE INTER-COUNTRY ECONOMY”

    Murtaza Karanfil, the Chairman of Turkey – Libya Business Council, stated that “There is a strong friendship between Turkey and Libya for more than 500 years. This friendship should be reflected more on commercial relations.”

    Reminding that he had previously called for the economy NGOs of countries to cooperate more, Karanfil made the following statements:

    “As Turkish businesspeople, we contribute greatly to meeting the basic needs of Turkey and increasing the welfare of the people with the trade we carry out with Libya. We also fulfill our humanitarian duty to Libya with the trade we carry out. Libya is very important and strategic because it has easy access to all countries in Africa, and is located at a geographical point close to Europe and Turkey.”

    Export from Turkey to Libya: Turkey broke a new record with the second-highest annual export to Libya with $2.44 billion in 2021. Previously, the highest figure was in 2013 which was $2.7 billion.
