147 Thousand 143 Houses Sold in Turkey in September 2021

According to the housing sales statistics of the Turkish Statistical Institute, 147 thousand 143 houses were sold in Turkey in September 2021. Housing sales across Turkey increased by 7.6% in September compared to the same month of the previous year.

Istanbul had the highest share with 28,229 housing sales and a share of 19.2%. Ankara ranked second with a share of 9.7%. Izmir ranked third with a 6.0% share.

The provinces with the lowest housing sales:

Sirnak with 78 houses,

Ardahan with 41 houses,

Hakkari with 14 houses.

949,138 houses sold in Turkey in January-September

Housing sales decreased by 18.3% in January-September compared to the same period of 2020.

Moreover, other housing sales in Turkey increased by 16.0% in September compared to the same month of 2020 and reached the number 117,384. The share of other sales in total housing sales was 79.8%. On the other hand, other housing sales during the January-September period increased by 17.6% compared to the same period of 2020 and reached 767,283.

6,630 houses sold to foreigners in September 2021

Housing sales to foreigners increased by 25.8% in September compared to the same month of 2020 and reached 6,630. The share of house sales to foreigners in total house sales was 4.5%.

Istanbul ranked first again in house sales to foreigners with the sale of 2,995 houses. Istanbul was followed by Antalya with 1,358 housing sales, and Ankara with 408 sales.

In the January-September period, house sales to foreigners increased by 43.2% compared to the same period of 2020 and reached the figures of 37,479.

Countries with the most housing sales in September 2021

In September, Iranian citizens bought 1,323 houses in Turkey. The citizens of Iran were followed by the citizens of Iraq with 990 houses and the citizens of the Russian Federation with 540 houses. German, Kuwaiti, Afghan and Kazakh citizens are among the citizens who bought the most housing in Turkey.
